</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I am in love with the color of this dress. I'd been on the search for the perfect brightly colored summer dress, and I found it at Target. I'm not surprised, Target is freakin' fab. So I made a decision that I will not be continuing my blog for too much longer. It has become one of my favorite hobbies, but I find that I do not have the time I want to devote to it, and in the next couple months, I'll have even less time. It makes me really sad, but I will still be reading all your blogs on my down time!</div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I'm also sad because this vacation is almost over. That means, it's back to the real world. You know, the job and the stress lol. The good news is that the trip wasn't that long, and the weather is very pleasant (as opposed to the oven-like conditions of Texas). I wore this out to lunch with the fam, a movie (Pirates; Johnny Depp is gorg!), and some shopping.</div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It is finally here! I am leaving for Denver, Colorado early in the morning. I didn't think it would ever arrive...work has been kicking my butt! And I do apologize for lack of posting; I just haven't had the time for anything lately. But I do plan on posting during my vacay - I'll have some downtime to edit my pictures of the day. Above is my "Perfect Road Trip Outfit," which consists of comfy cutoffs, an orange tank, nude flip-flops, and a long sleeve striped top for when it gets chilly in the car. I decided not to pack any heels on this trip because I'm going for total comfort, and we are planning on doing alot of walking! So flats, flip-flops, and sandals are going to be my mainstay!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was okay. I got a new car and a date for this weekend lol. It was too funny though, because my date is going to be the salesman that sold me my new car - pretty cute story. I will definitely post pictures and let you all know how that one goes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VOKYAjMVBho/Te0W_gsB7kI/AAAAAAAAAeM/C_jOp-leKXc/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282px" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VOKYAjMVBho/Te0W_gsB7kI/AAAAAAAAAeM/C_jOp-leKXc/s400/004.JPG" t8="true" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I love this clutch. Well, hopefully for you it is, because for me, it could be better....I am not feeling too well due to loads of stress at work. But in good news, I've decided to leave my job towards the end of June, then I embark on a 2 week vacation to Denver, Colorado! Needless to say, I'm excited for the summer.<br />
<br />
So I decided to post a few pics/instructions on a few DIY projects that I did over the weekend, with my grandmother's help.<br />
<br />
First we have denim bangles, which I first saw in June's InStyle magazine.<br />

Or take it a step further as I did, and add flat-back gold studs or any other extras, such as chain, which was used in one of the Ted Rossi originals.</strong></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Another project I did was jazz up a boring sweater. My idea came from this Banana Republic one:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img src="http://img2.timeinc.net/instyle/images/2011/GalxMonth/011311-Floral-cardigan-400.jpg" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">picture via InStyle.com, sweater- Banana Republic, $80</span></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">My version:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yhKjpHOEeyk/TeTzNp0vN2I/AAAAAAAAAd4/GHM7Czqn-5k/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="276px" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yhKjpHOEeyk/TeTzNp0vN2I/AAAAAAAAAd4/GHM7Czqn-5k/s400/009.JPG" t8="true" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong>BEFORE</strong></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sWshIMHhaGs/TeTzR6j7bSI/AAAAAAAAAd8/8KUFU8mq_nQ/s1600/015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400px" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sWshIMHhaGs/TeTzR6j7bSI/AAAAAAAAAd8/8KUFU8mq_nQ/s400/015.JPG" t8="true" width="280px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong>AFTER</strong></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LoBKlKbjYzM/TeTzVsN7w9I/AAAAAAAAAeA/Y6BAtKUdNDg/s1600/017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="226px" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LoBKlKbjYzM/TeTzVsN7w9I/AAAAAAAAAeA/Y6BAtKUdNDg/s320/017.JPG" t8="true" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And since I had some flat-back gold studs left over, I decided to embellish some plain Old Navy flip flops.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">That's all for right now, but I have a few more DIY projects planned next time I'm off. I might not be posting again for awhile, because I'm going to get uber-busy! But I am still reading your comments and hopefully will have time for my Daily Reads.</div><div align="center"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Honestly, I put this outfit together at the last minute before going to run errands. My grandmother was like, "Wow, you look California Casual," and I was like, "They dress like this in California?" I guess she knew what she was talking about because I found the almost exact same outfit in a magazine that had something to do with California lol. Anyway, I absolutely LOVE this sweatshirt - so lightweight and soft (it was about 90 degrees here at noon, and I didn't break a sweat). I got two from Target, on sale for $4.95 each. Why didn't I get more???? </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ycQcgXbC4b8/TeEL-Li7b6I/AAAAAAAAAcw/gzD05YIoCh0/s1600/011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640px" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ycQcgXbC4b8/TeEL-Li7b6I/AAAAAAAAAcw/gzD05YIoCh0/s640/011.JPG" t8="true" width="452px" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zca7JJhGrx0/TeEMCuIukBI/AAAAAAAAAc0/Gsc2Mw8tmO4/s1600/014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640px" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zca7JJhGrx0/TeEMCuIukBI/AAAAAAAAAc0/Gsc2Mw8tmO4/s640/014.JPG" t8="true" width="452px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This purse is thrifted, and it's so cute! I had been looking for a small black purse with a sort of chain-type strap for classy looks, and it is just what I envisioned!</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k8W3YcnQjMM/TeEMFS9XknI/AAAAAAAAAc4/PpO-siJHsOQ/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282px" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k8W3YcnQjMM/TeEMFS9XknI/AAAAAAAAAc4/PpO-siJHsOQ/s400/003.JPG" t8="true" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Since it is now SUPER hot outside (i.e., it will reach 104 today), I had to stock up on some summer essentials. I have always LOVED Neutrogena - it is just a classic brand that can never fail. I love the Ultra Sheer Body Mist sunblock because it goes on so sheer (hence, the name), has a very light smell, and the spray bottle makes it easy to reach hard-to-get places (since we all don't have a hot guy to rub lotion on our backs :p ). I also love the Ultra Sheer Dry Touch sunblock for my face. I sooooo hate the greasy feeling that most sunblocks give you, especially on my face! This one is perfect because it seems to disappear into an invisible powder after you rub it in....great if you want to put a little makeup on after. Finally, I cannot stand my hair to be oily. And since I have a habit of needing to be places at the last minute and don't always have time to wash my hair, theres dry shampoo! I have been testing many brands out over the last month, and I have to say that Beyond the Zone's Rock On dry shampoo works best for me. It gives me tons of volume, brushes out super easy, and makes my hair look like I washed it. It's available at Sally's, for around $8. I got the sunblocks from Ulta for $10 each. What are ya'lls beauty essentials for summer?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So I am going to be uber-busy this coming week. A couple of people at work quit, so I will be working major overtime! I'm actually dreading it, because I'm already SO tired, but the extra money will be great since I'm moving. And hopefully I will be getting a new car next month - I'm leaning toward a KIA Soul or a Nissan Cube. We are supposed to be going on vacation at the end of next month, but who knows if my job will be able to let me off. I hope so because I need one bad! Anyway, my point is I probably won't be posting until Friday, which is my next day off.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Thank you SOOO much for all the Birthday wishes....you girls are so sweet!!!!!!</div>Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09544791929793504944noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2370990386680730561.post-41790982464463349992011-05-25T07:49:00.000-07:002011-05-25T07:49:01.518-07:0025 Years Young<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-e6wcRh4ukgE/Td0UTDaaEeI/AAAAAAAAAcc/VekkmwzPxkk/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640px" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-e6wcRh4ukgE/Td0UTDaaEeI/AAAAAAAAAcc/VekkmwzPxkk/s640/001.JPG" t8="true" width="451px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Top- Old Navy, skirt- thrifted, wedges- Charlotte Russe, necklace- self-made</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I honestly cannot believe I am already 25 years old today! It is crazy how time flies by. This is the first birthday where I've actually looked back on my many years to just think. Even though I feel like I have ALOT of growing up to do still, I think I have grown so much over the past few years. I have had so many ups and downs, issues that I needed to work through, and I have come to alot of healthy realizations. I've had my heart broken many a time (although thinking back, I am grateful for those experiences), I've been in some major trouble, I've learned how to handle myself in certain situations, I've learned so much in general about life and about myself, I've had to make difficult (but right) choices. I also feel that my life is barely beginning, in a way. After years and years of being indecisive about what I want to do in life, I've finally found the answer. I'm just getting started, and I'm excited for what the next 25 years of my life will bring.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YkSl_xrbke8/Td0UXPSg14I/AAAAAAAAAcg/GuqBy2BX6jI/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640px" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YkSl_xrbke8/Td0UXPSg14I/AAAAAAAAAcg/GuqBy2BX6jI/s640/002.JPG" t8="true" width="452px" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So today officially started my Birthday Weekend! That basically means, my birthday is really on Wednesday, but I'm taking the weekend before as well as the weekend after lol. And yeah, I can do that, because it's my birthday! I actually got to take 'live' photos, as in, these were taken a few minutes ago. I got off work at 8am, and I haven't gotten any sleep yet. I was too excited to start my birthday weekend! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SsUPkKKK7Kc/TdgJUhkZ17I/AAAAAAAAAb4/bN00Y5KzdrY/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640px" j8="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SsUPkKKK7Kc/TdgJUhkZ17I/AAAAAAAAAb4/bN00Y5KzdrY/s640/002.JPG" width="452px" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Thanks for all the sweet comments! I found a new place to take pictures, an abandoned brick building. The brick was too beautiful to pass up. I'm usually against wearing jeans in the summer because I have a ton of skirts and dresses I'd rather wear, but when I put this look together, I couldn't resist. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This stairwell has become my favorite setting for photos. It's actually an old, abandoned antique store, but I just love the architecture of it. Do you ladies ever get caught taking photos of yourself? I'm not really one to attract attention, and I have to scout places before I get ready to have a photo session, to make sure there are no curious people or weird pervs. I've been doing pretty good at this spot, which is right across from the thrift shop I go to. But today, when I was leaving the thrift store, a nice lady that works there asked, "Did you get some good pictures?" LOL...caught red handed. She asked why, and I told her about my blog, but apparently she wasn't that amused...oh, well. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mh8OXgsiJsQ/Tc2sT_zTKUI/AAAAAAAAAa4/zZMlnJEM7Ck/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640px" j8="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mh8OXgsiJsQ/Tc2sT_zTKUI/AAAAAAAAAa4/zZMlnJEM7Ck/s640/003.JPG" width="452px" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ywGha_WxEaQ/Tc2sbPT5bSI/AAAAAAAAAbA/hFcpk04GKMk/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640px" j8="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ywGha_WxEaQ/Tc2sbPT5bSI/AAAAAAAAAbA/hFcpk04GKMk/s640/009.JPG" width="452px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I made these three necklaces. I love how they go with any color and every outfit! They also kind of add to that 70's vibe.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eq2yPfCCwfk/Tc2sXm4_EhI/AAAAAAAAAa8/Hm0rAR6wk-A/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282px" j8="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eq2yPfCCwfk/Tc2sXm4_EhI/AAAAAAAAAa8/Hm0rAR6wk-A/s400/004.JPG" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">These wedges went so perfectly with this dress, although they are a half size too small for me. Oh, well, the price of fashion, right? I also made the little anklet with some ball-chain and a tiny peace-sign charm.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I felt like a genuine lady in this outfit....somewhere along the lines of Audrey Hepburn, maybe. Another plus about this outfit was how comfortable it was! I went out shopping for hours in this outfit, and my feet never hurt nor did I just want to come home and put on sweats. I was so happy that the weather had changed a little bit for this day; it was quite chilly, so I finally got to wear my new Target trenchcoat that I bought months ago. Sadly, since it is May and I'm in Texas, it's only going to get hotter - which means, no more cute sweaters and coats :( But it does mean sunny summer dresses and sandals :) </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pvAwBCEBnA4/TcQsOa5Op6I/AAAAAAAAAak/8QSSZVxYX1g/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640px" j8="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pvAwBCEBnA4/TcQsOa5Op6I/AAAAAAAAAak/8QSSZVxYX1g/s640/002.JPG" width="452px" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q3mnoG_5ddo/TcQsRWXvDMI/AAAAAAAAAao/zQV2qvE-tVA/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282px" j8="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q3mnoG_5ddo/TcQsRWXvDMI/AAAAAAAAAao/zQV2qvE-tVA/s400/003.JPG" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">These Charlotte Russe wedges instantly caught my eye because of the cute little bow on the side (I am so obsessed with bows right now!) and the neutral color, which means they'll go with alot of different outfits. Plus, the shoes over at Charlotte Russe were Buy 1 pair, Get the 2nd for $15 - so these were the $15 pair!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-blp93tIC7Fo/TcQsU5h6-jI/AAAAAAAAAas/YiHjl8KeN8A/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282px" j8="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-blp93tIC7Fo/TcQsU5h6-jI/AAAAAAAAAas/YiHjl8KeN8A/s400/005.JPG" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Did I mention I am obsessed with bows? I could not pass this ring up! I'm also obsessed with nail polishes of all colors lately, and I absolutely love this lilac color by Sally Hansen. It's Lacey Lilac from Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, and I picked it up at Wal-Mart.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IPjQivewhv0/TcQsZJmQR-I/AAAAAAAAAaw/JS3aJN8_kEc/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="226px" j8="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IPjQivewhv0/TcQsZJmQR-I/AAAAAAAAAaw/JS3aJN8_kEc/s320/008.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Speaking of Wal-Mart, has anybody noticed the CUTE jewelry they have currently?? I absolutely die! This set was $5, and they are so classy and girly! I'm wearing the top pair in this post.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I'm kind of sad to say, but I'm starting my extremely tight budget this month. I've been spending SO much, and I really need to save so I can buy some cute home decor items for my new apartment. Also I don't want to buy so many things right now because I'll just have more to pack. It's going to be very hard, and the only way I won't spend is by becoming a hermit and staying in the house LOL. Oh, well, I don't think it'll last long!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Have a great weekend! </div>Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09544791929793504944noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2370990386680730561.post-60732553165097766892011-05-04T07:21:00.000-07:002011-05-04T07:28:25.510-07:00Long Time, No See<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tAm_i2kPID8/TcFexz5VedI/AAAAAAAAAaU/DjEsXQ0I_HM/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300px" j8="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tAm_i2kPID8/TcFexz5VedI/AAAAAAAAAaU/DjEsXQ0I_HM/s400/003.JPG" width="400px" /></a></div><div align="center"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Tee- Target, Skirt- Kohls, flats- Payless </span></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">Wow, okay, so it's been awhile! Seriously, I wish I could quit my job so I'd have more time for blogging. But since we don't live in a perfect world, I have to make the best of things. These photos were taken last week sometime for doing a little thrift shopping and out to lunch with my grandmother. I have got to say, I LOVE this tee from Target. They are so soft and comfy, I went back and got 5 more in all colors. Best part of all, they were just $8. Perfect lounge tees. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6xYikxImEAE/TcFfDHFXdYI/AAAAAAAAAaY/9InDkTzaaDk/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300px" j8="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6xYikxImEAE/TcFfDHFXdYI/AAAAAAAAAaY/9InDkTzaaDk/s400/006.JPG" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="300px" j8="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FY_XmCYT3U0/TcFfJAK1jiI/AAAAAAAAAac/LgkwyxRKD9w/s400/005.JPG" width="400px" /></div><div align="center"><br />

I decided I needed a name that would be more fun and fashion-related. I hope you all have found me again!<br />
<br />
To celebrate the new name and new style, I named this post "Southern Influences." I just adore Southwestern culture. I love traveling to New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona, seeing the architecture, the nature, and the culture. Every time my family and I travel, I have to take pictures of the mountains, the cacti, and the buildings, plus I love looking at the Native American jewelry and products. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_BXhxjY1n_4/TbcSLtMDubI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/IcmkUd4Gfa4/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="281px" i8="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_BXhxjY1n_4/TbcSLtMDubI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/IcmkUd4Gfa4/s400/001.JPG" width="400px" /></a></div><div align="center"><span style="font-size: x-small;">yellow tank top - Old Navy, skirt - handmade by grandmother, aviators - Forever 21, flip-flops - Kohls</span></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">My grandmother has been making clothes for me and my siblings our entire lives. She basically can make anything! I adore her because she is super creative and usually teaches herself how to do things (sew, knit, crochet, needlepoint, etc). I love this skirt because, like I said before, I love Southwestern style. The burnt orange, yellow, blue, and green all fit in with the style. As for the flip flops, I was lazy and wanted to be comfy :)</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BGB73KehA-s/TbcSO_ykTtI/AAAAAAAAAaA/mrrOjPdSQYA/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282px" i8="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BGB73KehA-s/TbcSO_ykTtI/AAAAAAAAAaA/mrrOjPdSQYA/s400/002.JPG" width="400px" /></a></div><br />

Nothing glamorous, just an efficiency-style apartment on campus where I'm going to school. But I'm so excited because I get to decorate! And I will be living there for probably the entire time I'm going to school, so I definitely need to make the space my very own. Plus, since it is very small (efficiency = my bedroom is my living room with a bathroom and small kitchen area), I'm going to want to make it beautiful, bright, girly, and a place where I'm going to want to spend my time - because basically, it's where I HAVE to spend my time! Might as well enjoy it, right? Here are a few things I have on my wishlist for home decor:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GFuw1VS0O60/Taykr7XBHaI/AAAAAAAAAZg/htrUe6DP3UY/s1600/DA2DDA45-27FC-B128-CCEE-7F0118CA91ABwallpaper%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" r6="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GFuw1VS0O60/Taykr7XBHaI/AAAAAAAAAZg/htrUe6DP3UY/s400/DA2DDA45-27FC-B128-CCEE-7F0118CA91ABwallpaper%255B1%255D.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The elephant teapot is part of the Calypso St. Barth collection coming to Target! It is going to be around $12.99, and it also comes in a beautiful coral color. Since they are so inexpensive, I will probably get two - I absolutely LOVE elephants, and I plan on putting a few colorful flowers in them. I also plan to decorate with lots of flowers! There is nothing that brightens up a room better than beautiful bright flowers! The teired dessert tray is also from Target - I love the design on the little plates - I want to use a couple of these to display all my costume jewelry. Not only will it look cool, but if I am able to see all the jewelry I have, I am more apt to wear it. Colored printed boxes (the above ones are from Container Store) are great for storing all kinds of things - I want a couple to store my nail polishes and makeup. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Other than these things, I am planning on getting some new bedding, colorful pillows, and other little knick-knacks. Does anyone have a HomeGoods store near them? Anyone shop there? I went to one when I visited my aunt in Denver - it's seriously awesome. There were so much cool home decor pieces, and the prices were phenomenal. It was funny because we would pick up something we liked (like a vase or whatever) and look at the price and say, "No way!" We did that the entire time we were in that store. Unfortunately, there is not one anywhere near me, but we are going to be visiting my aunt again this summer, so I really have to make a point of scoping out HomeGoods for my apartment. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Like I said, Target is amazing for colorful home decor items, so I will be hitting up there as well lol. I'm sure I will end up buying more things that I see (not on my list), but I know I won't be able to resist.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Later after I move in, I will be doing a Before and After post about decorating my little space and making it a home.</div>Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09544791929793504944noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2370990386680730561.post-87430475509112209472011-04-15T07:05:00.000-07:002011-04-15T07:11:56.583-07:00Class Act<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zPfjp_bv3yM/TahOHukXmAI/AAAAAAAAAZQ/PVizV3XklYg/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" r6="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zPfjp_bv3yM/TahOHukXmAI/AAAAAAAAAZQ/PVizV3XklYg/s640/001.JPG" width="451" /></a></div><div align="center"><span style="font-size: x-small;">white tee - Target, black skirt - Kohls, heels - Payless</span></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">Yeah, I had no idea what to title this post. I wore this outfit to see my academic advisor at school last week, hence 'Class' Act. Anyway, I kind of cheated because I ended up taking the heels off for some comfy flip-flops...hehe. I like this outfit because I think the accessories really made it less casual. The skirt and tee by themselves were very casual, so I added a thick black headband, a long black beaded necklace (which I knotted), a men's watch, and the heels. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The title of my post is the famous song "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds from the most awesome 80's movie ever, The Breakfast Club. I didn't realize until after I wore this, that it reminded me of Ally Sheedy in The Breakfast Club. But I will not shake out my dandruff to create "snow" while in detention lol (scene from movie). Excuse my hair in the above pic, its been crazy windy in West Texas lately.</div><br />

I work nights, so basically the extent of my work wardrobe is comfy lounge pants and shirts from Target and flipflops, then I sleep during the day, so no going out too often. That's why I wait until my days off to post. But my schedule is a little wacky right now, so I am getting different days off, which I guess is good, too. Anyway, enough gabbing - thanks for the wonderful comments, I do appreciate them.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I am not a very good multi-tasker as you can tell. Plus, I have been VERY busy getting all my school stuff in order for next semester. It's going to be a crazy Fall, but I'm looking forward to it. I have decided while I am going to school full-time for Social Work, I will work part-time as a Pharmacy Tech on the weekends and probably get another part-time job at some clothing store at the mall. Money+fashion=one happy girl. So that is why I have not been very good at commenting on everyones posts...I play catch-up on the weekends! :p</div><div align="center"></div>Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09544791929793504944noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2370990386680730561.post-48387343833954377432011-04-02T18:32:00.000-07:002011-04-02T18:32:21.819-07:00DIY Saturday!<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Last week, I decided it was time to go Spring/Summer shoe shopping. I bought a couple pairs of really cute Candies wedges on sale at Kohl's (one of my FAV places). But it had me thinking of a pair of Forever 21 wedges I got this time last year - they didn't make it out of the Summer season alive, unfortunately. The straps around the ankle detached from the sole of the shoe :( I couldn't bare to throw them out, so I just put them away in the closet lol. But I got an idea for some DIY, and here are the results:</div><br />
<div class="" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">BEFORE</div><div class="" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IM4rdqYIX60/TZfG9GgR_pI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/9z5vD3kg1eY/s1600/thecutout.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" r6="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IM4rdqYIX60/TZfG9GgR_pI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/9z5vD3kg1eY/s1600/thecutout.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">AFTER</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MtmdgmbjDY4/TZfMI2_tfCI/AAAAAAAAAYo/Xo6zleb2lMs/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" r6="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MtmdgmbjDY4/TZfMI2_tfCI/AAAAAAAAAYo/Xo6zleb2lMs/s400/001.JPG" width="281" /></a></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div align="center"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HJaaCp86N1E/TZfL3jgmv6I/AAAAAAAAAYU/sWwh6bEybP4/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="283" r6="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HJaaCp86N1E/TZfL3jgmv6I/AAAAAAAAAYU/sWwh6bEybP4/s400/002.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div align="center"><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">All I did (well, I say I, I mean my grandmother, because I cannot sew) was sew a long piece of material closed, then wove it through the hole in the wedge, wrapped it around my foot, threaded it through the slits in front of the sandal, and tied a bow. After the ankle strap detached from the sole, it was easy to just cut the rest off. The great thing about this is that I can change the material to go with any outfit! I'm already thinking of a blue and white stripe material for a nautical look.</div></div><div align="center" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div align="center"><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Also, I had a certain purse on my wishlist for awhile. I was actually planning on buying it, but I found a similar purse in a similar color while thrift-shopping one day. All I did (again, grandmother) was make a bow out of material, stick some self-adhesive velcro to the bow and the purse, and ta-da! It isn't an exact replica of the Forever 21 purse, but I really like it, and it cost loads less.</div></div><div align="center" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"></div><div align="center" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">FOREVER 21 BAG</div><div align="center" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AoXR_hGdOao/TZfMPtNS10I/AAAAAAAAAYs/PD615gqB0NA/s1600/quiltedbowbag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" r6="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AoXR_hGdOao/TZfMPtNS10I/AAAAAAAAAYs/PD615gqB0NA/s320/quiltedbowbag.jpg" width="262" /></a></div><div align="center" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">MY THRIFTED VERSION</div><div align="center" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Unlike shopping at a mall or department store, thrift shopping is exciting and surprising. I have seen a few of my favorite bloggers love to thrift shop as well, but I wanted to do a post about tips for thrift shopping for the ones that haven't dared. I also am showcasing my best thrift store finds.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ef_wvX_pB70/TYlTnUYJcrI/AAAAAAAAAXg/pwSX2SOWgr4/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" r6="true" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ef_wvX_pB70/TYlTnUYJcrI/AAAAAAAAAXg/pwSX2SOWgr4/s400/001.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Black suede clogs, Candies fur-lined boots, Mudd wedges, Wet Seal shimmery flats, and black leather clogs</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">You don't neccessarily want to go into a thrift store with certain things to buy in mind, because you will probably be very disappointed. Thrift shopping is definitely hit-or-miss, which is the exciting and suprising part of it. You can go into a store everyday for a week and leave with nothing. Then you could go everyday the next week and find cart-loads of items. I personally think that is why thrift shopping is so great, because when you finally find the things you want, those items are even more special to you. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-iFDYQrGbYjc/TYlbpmMqIxI/AAAAAAAAAXo/AS2QqG2nSQI/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" r6="true" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-iFDYQrGbYjc/TYlbpmMqIxI/AAAAAAAAAXo/AS2QqG2nSQI/s400/004.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><span style="font-size: x-small;">Multi-colored faux snakeskin bag, pink cross-body bag, vintage Dooney & Bourke with coin purse, purple faux snakeskin cross body bag, blue Nine West bag, Bath & Body Works wristlet</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">The most important tip that I can give anyone about thrift shopping is NEVER GIVE UP. It is definitely a huge let-down when you leave a store empty-handed. But there are new things added almost daily, and you are bound to find something. Another tip, which is mostly for the ones that are iffy about thrifting, is that they are CLEAN items. Of course, I draw the line at panties and other undergarments (it's just too weird), but the people who work at thrift shops do their best to weed out the good items from the bad. And if you are still freaked out by the idea of used clothing, you can obviously clean them yourself. I ALWAYS throw items in the washer and dryer as soon as I get home. Although with sweaters and delicate blouses, I like to hand-wash just to be cautious. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-rhxKfo6ZWAA/TYldNNfO6VI/AAAAAAAAAXs/uvt1CN_KWdM/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="452" r6="true" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-rhxKfo6ZWAA/TYldNNfO6VI/AAAAAAAAAXs/uvt1CN_KWdM/s640/009.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-size: x-small;">Flower and sequins skirt, black pleated skirt with flowers, satin flowered tunic, purple and violet dress</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
Please examine your item before purchasing!!! If there is a stain or hole in the item that cannot be repaired or cleaned, do not buy it unless you don't mind them. I personally do not want to leave with a beautiful white top, then find a nasty stain that will not come out later. With shoes, I like to spray the insides with anti-fungal spray and put new soles, if needed. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Also, don't be afraid to get a top that is a little bigger in size. I'm not talking about so big that you drown in it or look pregnant. There are times when I find a perfect top that I absolutely must have, but it's a little big. I get it anyway, because I can always wear it as a dress or tunic. It is definitely hard to think on such spur-of-the-monents, but you have to. Be aware of what you need in your closet, and what you definitely do not need. Think about how you will wear a certain item, remixing it with things that you already own. Or, you could possibly find something that you can fix up with a little DIY of gllitter or bows, etc.</div></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RlZLM4yeyrw/TYlm9RRCubI/AAAAAAAAAYE/EcEv3VfbMj4/s1600/012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" r6="true" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RlZLM4yeyrw/TYlm9RRCubI/AAAAAAAAAYE/EcEv3VfbMj4/s640/012.JPG" width="640" /></a> <span style="font-size: x-small;">Lace button-down, 3/4 sleeve flowered blouse</span><br />
Try the mens department!!! Usually if I cannot find anything in the women's section, I head over to the men's department. Almost ALL of my button-downs are from the mens department. There's nothing sexier than a girl in a mens shirt ;) And plus, they are a little bigger and longer, which make great tunics/dresses.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;"><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-eU8pnGO2wUI/TYlmz8QvwYI/AAAAAAAAAYA/W1s2_VxS6wI/s1600/014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="452" r6="true" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-eU8pnGO2wUI/TYlmz8QvwYI/AAAAAAAAAYA/W1s2_VxS6wI/s640/014.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><span style="font-size: x-small;">Purple and Black 3/4 sleeve blouse, men's plaid button-down</span><br />
And don't worry if you buy something that you end up hating. It happens. We can't win all the time! But at least you paid a few dollars for it and not thirty or more at a department store. Just learn from the experience, and try try again! Have fun!<br />

Unfortunately, not literally lol. I haven't had much time to post, and I basically wear a t-shirt and jeans to work, so no good photo ops. I'm still here and I'll be back soon - thanks for all the lovely comments.<br />
<br />
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Japan and Hawaii, and those that have friends and family there as well. It's just crazy what is happening in the world today - not just war and man-made chaos, but things that are in nature. Makes you realize how lucky we can be sometimes, and to live life to the fullest because tragedy can strike at any time. xoxoHeatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09544791929793504944noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2370990386680730561.post-48224447495471015752011-03-03T18:20:00.000-08:002011-03-03T18:20:03.475-08:00Flashback to Summer<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-2R08OzT7MS0/TXBJ_bUfMpI/AAAAAAAAAXM/1xv5izXvxEE/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" l6="true" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-2R08OzT7MS0/TXBJ_bUfMpI/AAAAAAAAAXM/1xv5izXvxEE/s320/003.JPG" width="295" /></a></div><div align="center"><strong><span style="font-size: x-small;">Skirt - thrifted, lilac tank - thrifted, purple top - JC Penney, necklace - Denver Nature & Science Museum</span></strong></div><div align="center">I am really excited for summer, so I decided to do a "Flashback" post (also because I've been dressing very very casually and haven't taken outfit pics lately). Fun! But the good thing about orientation is the casual days, especially with it being so hot lately. Although, at the time, when this picture was taken, it was slightly chilly, hence, the sweater. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-kkwm236QsrE/TW2Dz3vXv-I/AAAAAAAAAWw/0bnkht1lPBE/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" l6="true" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-kkwm236QsrE/TW2Dz3vXv-I/AAAAAAAAAWw/0bnkht1lPBE/s320/005.JPG" width="308" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">OMG, I absolutely LOVE these L.E.I. jean leggings (I just can't bring myself to say jeggings...:-/)!!!! They are super duper comfy, so cute, and go with anything! I'm pretty short, so when I wear flats, I fold up the cuff a couple of times, and when I wear heels, they look great unfolded as well. I usually have a problem with skinny jeans being too long, but these are perfect. Plus, they fit easily tucked into boots. Best part? $10. I have many a pair, believe me. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ZBRjDZ3Yask/TW2Drz407zI/AAAAAAAAAWs/OlPm0MCcZG4/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" l6="true" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ZBRjDZ3Yask/TW2Drz407zI/AAAAAAAAAWs/OlPm0MCcZG4/s320/006.JPG" width="227" /></a></div><br />

I went on a shopping spree at Target last week for some cute flats, and I found these just as I was about to give up. Oh, and I have to add alot of props to China Glaze nail polish....I have had my nails painted for about a week now, and I don't have any chips or nicks whatsoever, and this is with 2 coats. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

The weather has been great the past few weeks, and the BF and I decided to drive to the lake and have a photo session. Yes, he is amazing for putting up with my nagging, "Take a picture of my outfit!!!" Very helpful and awesome boy. So here are a few pics from my very first photo session for my blog! EEK! I'm a nerd, by the way.<br />
